π₯ Importing Past Data into Church Metrics
If you have years of past data to add into Church Metrics, entering it one record at a time can feel overwhelming. Thatβs why Church Metrics includes a CSV import tool β so you can upload all your historical data at once.
Because the importer is strict, formatting matters. This guide walks you step-by-step to ensure your data uploads correctly the first time.
β οΈ Before You Begin
Make sure these requirements are met:
Campuses and Categories exist β Any campus or category listed in your CSV must already be created in your account.
Names must match exactly β Category and campus names are case-sensitive and must match your account word-for-word (including spaces and punctuation).
Admin access required β You must be logged in as an Administrator to use the import feature.
π How to Import Past Data
From your profile dropdown, click Admin, then select Records.
In the top-right, click Import Data.
Download the sample CSV template:
Sample with data β Includes example entries to help you understand formatting.
Headers only β Provides just the column headers if you want a blank slate.
Open the CSV file and enter your information. Use the following rules:
π Required Columns
Campus Slug β Exact name of the campus (already created in your account).
Category Name β Exact name of the category (already created in your account, or you may need to create new ones to match your CSV file's categories).
Value β Numbers only. No commas or dollar signs.

Service Date Time β Must match an existing service time in your account.
Format:
M/D/YYYY HH:MM
(e.g.,1/5/2025 10:00
)Times are in 24-hour format (e.g.,
2:00PM = 14:00
).
π Optional Columns
Event Name β Only use if the data is tied to a special Event.
Other / Service Time ID β Not required; leave blank.
β Importing the File
Save your file as CSV (.csv).
Back in Church Metrics, click Choose File, select your CSV, and then click Import.
If successful, your data will be added immediately.
If thereβs an error, the system will flag the row with the issue so you can correct and re-upload.
π§ Troubleshooting
If your import fails, check the following:
Does the Campus Slug exactly match a campus name in your account?
Does the Category Name exactly match a category in your account?
Did you accidentally include symbols like commas or
$
in the Value column?Does your Service Date Time match the required format?
If you listed an Event, does that Event exist in your account?
