How to Import Data Not Attached to a Specific Service Time

Church Metrics allows you to import data not associated with a specific service time by using the "Other" service time option. This is often used for mid-week events like offerings, classes, or small groups that don’t happen during a regularly scheduled service.

Steps to Import Data Using "Other" as the Service Time

To upload data without tying it to a specific service time, follow these steps:

  1. Prepare your CSV file for import.

  2. In your file:

    • “Service Date Time”: This must include a valid date (e.g., 2025-08-01). You may leave the time off or include a generic time.

    • “Other”: This column must contain the word Yes. This tells the system to ignore the Service Time field and use "Other" instead.

Example:

Campus Slug

Category Name

Value

Service Date Time

Event Name

Other

Service Time Id

Buffalo

Midweek Offering

250

2025-08-01

Yes

Buffalo

Outreach Event

45

2025-08-01

Yes

Note: The first row of your CSV should be column headers. When an error message mentions "row 1," it’s referring to the first row of actual data (row 2 in most spreadsheets), not the header row.

Common Error

Error:

"Cannot find service time in row 1."

Cause:

This usually means the first row of data (not the header row) is missing a proper date, the "Other" column isn’t set to "Yes," or the file format doesn’t match expected structure.

Still Need Help?

If you continue having issues, double-check:

  • That your CSV file is properly formatted.

  • That every data row includes a date in the "Service Date Time" column.

  • That "Other" is set to "Yes" for those rows not tied to a regular service time.
