Common Workarounds for Dashboard Limitations

Updated yesterday

Understanding Dashboard Limitations

The Dashboard in Church Metrics is built with Widgets that use preset timeframes.

At this time, widgets do not support custom fiscal year ranges or the ability to filter for only specific years within a single widget.

Available widget timeframes include:

  • Last 7 days

  • Last 30 days

  • This year

  • Last year

  • All time

  • Other preset rolling periods

Workarounds for Fiscal Years

If your church operates on a fiscal year (e.g., October–September), you can still align your data with the following workaround.

Use Reports

  1. Click on the Reports tab

  2. Run your report

  3. Choose the date range of your fiscal year.

    1. For the October-September example, this would be the week of 10/6/24 through the week of 9/28/25.

  4. Once the report has finished running, you may click on the Queued Reports tab and download your report as either a PDF or CSV file.

Use Charts

Charts also allow custom start and end dates. You can use these to generate visuals tied directly to your fiscal year.

Workarounds for Specific Years

If you need to view or compare data for only certain years, here are some options:

Option: Reports with Year Filters

  • In Reports, set Custom Date Ranges for each year.

  • Save reports named by year (e.g., Attendance 2022).

Option: Multi-Year Trend View

  • Set a widget to All Time to see long-term trends.

  • Note: You cannot exclude specific years in this mode.

Option: Export for Custom Analysis

  • Export your data to Excel/Google Sheets.

  • Build side-by-side year comparisons or custom visuals as needed using Excel or Google Sheets.
