Understanding Dashboard Limitations

The Dashboard in Church Metrics is built with Widgets that use preset timeframes. At this time, widgets do not support custom fiscal year ranges or the ability to filter for only specific years within a single widget.

Available widget timeframes include:

  • Last 7 days

  • Last 30 days

  • This year

  • Last year

  • All time

  • Other preset rolling periods

🔒 Custom fiscal year settings (e.g., October–September) and “pick-a-year” filters are not currently available for widgets.

Workarounds for Fiscal Years

If your church operates on a fiscal year (e.g., October–September), you can still align your data:

  1. Use Reports

    • Go to the Reports tool.

    • Choose Custom Date Range → set October 1, 2024 to September 30, 2025 (or your fiscal year).

    • Export as PDF or CSV for distribution.

  2. Use Charts

    • Charts also allow custom start and end dates.

    • Generate visuals tied directly to your fiscal year.

Workarounds for Specific Years

If you need to view or compare data for only certain years, here are some options:

Option 1: One Widget per Year

  • Create a separate widget for each year.

  • Example: Attendance — 2022, Attendance — 2023, Attendance — 2024.

  • Place them side-by-side for comparison.

Option 2: Reports with Year Filters

  • In Reports, set Custom Date Ranges for each year.

  • Save reports named by year (e.g., Attendance 2022).

  • Export or pin charts for easier comparisons.

Option 3: Multi-Year Trend View

  • Set a widget to All Time to see long-term trends.

  • Note: You cannot exclude specific years in this mode.

Option 4: Export for Custom Analysis

  • Export your data to Excel/Google Sheets.

  • Build side-by-side year comparisons or custom visuals as needed.
