Understanding How Projections Work

Updated over 2 months ago

What Are Projections?

Projections in Church Metrics are manually entered numbers that represent your expected attendance, giving, or participation for a specific category.

  • Projections are not automatically calculated by the system.

  • They are a tool for goal-setting and comparison (actual vs. projected).

  • Once entered, you can view projections in your Reports and compare them against actual results.

This is helpful if you:

  • Want to set ministry goals or targets

  • Need to measure performance against expectations

  • Wish to visualize projected vs. actual data in reports

How to Add Projections

  1. Click on your Profile menu, then click on Admin.

  2. Click on Projections menu.

  3. Select your criteria for the projection.

  4. Click Input Projections button when finished.

  5. Enter your projected numbers on the next screen.

  6. Click Save once you have finished inputting your projections.

Once entered, projections can be pulled into custom reports to compare actual vs. projected data.

Tip: You may want to write down the criteria chosen to create each projection, such as the Campus, Quarter, Year and Category. You will need this information to modify or delete your projections later.

Viewing Projections

Projections appear alongside your actual data in reports.

  1. Create or Edit an existing report.

  2. Check the Projected box for any items you wish to see your projections next to.

  • To hide projections from your reports, uncheck these same boxes in each report that you adde them to.

Removing or Editing Projections

If you need to change or remove projections, follow the same steps at the beginning of this article.

You will need to have remembered the exact criteria used to create the projection, as there will not be a list of created projections to choose from.

Once you have reopened your projection data, you can simply change or delete all the projected numbers you entered in. Click the Save button when finished.
