Managing Category Visibility in Church Metrics
Sometimes users notice that a category (e.g., Students or Baptisms) seems to disappear from the Input tab. Don’t worry—this usually means the category has been hidden, not deleted.
Church Metrics gives each user control over which categories they see when entering data. This makes it easy to simplify your view, but it can also cause confusion if something gets hidden accidentally.
🔎 Why a Category May Not Be Visible
Hidden by the User: Clicking the eye icon next to a category hides it from your Input view.
User-Specific: Hiding only affects your own account. Other users will still see the category unless they’ve hidden it too.
✅ How to Restore a Hidden Category
Go to the Input tab.
Select any Campus, Week, and Service Time.
Scroll to the very bottom and click Show Hidden Categories.
Find the hidden category in the list.
Click the eye icon to unhide it.
Your category will now reappear in your Input screen.
👁️ How to Hide a Category (Without Deleting Data)
If you no longer want to see a category but still want to preserve its historical data:
Go to the Input tab.
Hover over any category and click the eyeball icon next to it.
It will no longer be visible for your account only. It will still be visible in other user's accounts. This DOES NOT delete any data. It simply hides the category from the Input screen.
📌 Important Notes
Hiding ≠ Deleting: Hiding a category does not remove its past records. All data remains available in your reports.
User-Specific: Each user must manage their own hidden/visible categories. Admins cannot adjust this for others.
Best Practice: Hide categories you no longer track (e.g., older ministry breakdowns) instead of deleting them, so you maintain your full history.
✅ Tip: Encourage your team to regularly review their Show Hidden Categories list so no one misses important metrics.
